All Hail The Obamessiah — NOT!!!
A quick news round-up of all things Barry…
More fuel for Obama’s ego — one German interviewed by ABC News said of Barry Obama, “He is my new Messiah.” Surprise, surprise. They’re just bypassing the comparisons of Obama with Abraham Lincoln and going straight for Jesus Christ now.
For those who may be inclined to think that perhaps Barry is exactly the opposite, though, check out what The Write Side of My Brain says about that after analyzing the possibility:
I don’t seriously think Barack Obama is the antichrist. For one thing, the Prince of Darkness would know his committee assignments and how many states there are.
That may be the best line anyone has written on the Internet this week.
Of course, it has to compete with this excellent piece from The Times of London that uses just about every available ounce of British humor currently on the isle to thoroughly mock Obama and those treating him as if he were the Second Coming. Here is just a taste:
When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago, arguing the finer points of community organisation with the Prophet Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: “Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?”
It only gets better. You may want to get a copy of that article and frame it for posterity.
Finally, there is the speech in Berlin. What you didn’t see on the posters if you can’t read German was:
Come for the free concerts, beer and bratwurst — stay for the speech because you won’t be sober enough to go home right away afterwards.
Coming back down from these lofty perches, you find more mundane items like one of the names being floated for Obama’s VP: Anne Veneman. Yes, George W. Bush’s first Sec. of Agriculture. Heck, I’d be underwhelmed by her pick if John McCain chose her. Can you imagine the reaction of all the Hillary! supporters and nutroots if Barry picked her?
Meanwhile, Wisconsin Dems dumped one of their delegates to the Dem Nat’l Convo after she announced she’d be voting for McCain in November. (She was a Hillary! supporter.)
Finally, McCain makes a little news himself, coining the term for Obama’s opposition to victory and winning the war in Iraq — “the audacity of hopelessness.”
